Security is of paramount importance to us, and passwords are arguably the most fundamental aspect of protecting your data and privacy. Every year, we publish statistics on the most insecure passwords—those most commonly used by users at the same time. While 123456 is clearly not the solution, it actually seems like a sensible option to many users.
So, you're encouraged to change your password regularly. In some businesses and companies, this is even explicitly required of employees. It sounds sensible at first. But experts now believe that changing your password regularly is pointless. See here.
Changing your password frequently leads to automatically choosing simpler or similar passwords, sticking them under your keyboard, or writing them down. This is almost a consequence of feeling overwhelmed by the constant need to come up with new ones and then remember them. It's better to create strong passwords and use them for longer.
What makes a really good password?
Length matters. This doesn't mean choosing the longest possible word, but rather that your password combination should be of a certain length. Birthdays, dog names, and children's names, and the resulting combinations, are not a good idea, but a good combination of numbers, letters, and punctuation marks makes a password almost unbeatable.
An example:
I eat my muesli for breakfast at eight and feel good.

Cashare offers even more security
To further secure your password, we offer two-factor authentication. Instead of relying solely on a password to access your account, with two-factor authentication enabled, you will need a personal password and a time-based PIN, which will be provided to your smartphone.
How do I get two-factor authentication enabled?
First, you need to download Google Authenticator. This is a Mobile App from Google Inc., which you can easily download from the App Store or Google Play. You only need Android version 2.1 or later, or iOS version 3.1.3 or later.
Then log in to your Cashare account and go to the page with the Two-factor authentication. You can find them under (Account > User data > Two-factor authentication).
As a next step Scan the QR code Use the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone to create a new account in the app. Next, enter the 6-digit PINEnter the code that the application has now generated into the verification code field and click on Enable two-factor authentication.
Then, log in as usual, enter your email address and password, and click Sign in. When prompted, enter the 6-digit PIN displayed in your Google Authenticator app on your smartphone and click Authenticate.
What happens if the phone is lost:
When setting up two-factor authentication on your mobile phone, you must note down the provided authentication key and keep it safe. This key allows you to install the authenticator on other devices if your device is broken or lost. If you no longer have the key, please contact our customer service at support@cashare.ch.
Have fun browsing our secure website. Feeling safe is a wonderful experience.
